Finally available on vinyl! Originally released by the band on CD. Znow Plonie Niebo - "The Sky Is Burning Again"
crust/death metal from Poland. the new album from Poland’s Death Crusade – eleven tracks of crusty grindy, Punk-infused Death Metal
(and I know some may argue with this description, but I hear at least as much Entombed in this album as I do Extreme Noise Terror)
whose gnarly riffs and gravel-gargling vocals disguise a keenly-honed sense of structure and flow.
“Znów Płonie Niebo” is the second album of the Polish deathcrust brigade.
the opening combo of “Szary” and “Izolacja”, with the former’s doomy opening minutes eventually giving way
to a breakneck Death Metal gallop, while the latter’s squalling assault upon the senses errs more towards the blinding intensity
of Grindcore godfathers Rotten Sound and Repulsion. Instrumentally speaking, the band demonstrate that they’re more than capable of switching things up
– without abandoning their core sound – when necessary, whether that’s by swapping face-melting fury for chunky groove (“Zrównani”),
or switching out d-beats for blastbeats (and vice versa), or simply dropping down to a shamelessly swaggering stomp-along (“Szczujnia”)
or settling into a devastatingly doomy groove (“Ode Złego”).
Death Crusade - 4 piece mechanism managed to absorb all main elements of metal punk, and the main themes
(war, poverty, social injustice, and so on). On one side we have nothing new, it’s an immortal classic that is rolling
for more than 40 years, but on the other side, it’s important to put together all elements right, and
spice them with hate and aggression. Death, bombs, full apocalypse, and never-ending religion manipulation…
nothing complicated but, this art looks great and fits perfectly to this music. So as a result of compliance with
all rules and recommendations, we have a really nice and atmospheric album. 37 minutes of wonderful d-beat drilling!
These songs are really furious, and some of them have a really dystopian taste. I bet that many crust lovers will
dig this album because it has a lot inside. Among simple structures and buzzing guitar tone, you will find a good
portion of short but good solos. The solid bass guitar sound, cheerful d-beat, and of course, angry type of vocal
(nice pissed-off growl and screams). Death Crusade proves that Poland still has a great band in its crust scene.
Play this album loud and you won’t regret it!
